Amniac, a four piece band from Athens, were kind enough to drop by the studio twice in order to put into words and sounds their sophomore release 'Matriarch'. Much respect goes out to Czar, Pantelis, Anthony & Logan who graced us with the gloomy soundscapes of the occult female-centered Saga that is Matriarch.

Season 06 - Episode 13 of the web radio show Heavy & Unhealthy (14.12.2016)

Three bands in the studio, two of them with a fresh release, a three-way-interview & a live session. What could go wrong? Well, according to Murphy's Law, everything. Blame Canada, a newly found post-rock band, 4LT., an alternative rock band & God In A Cone, a one-man-band performing 'experimental sounds without musical boundaries' came by the studio for an interview. Blame Canada & 4LT., both with their debut full length releases in hand ('City We Love To Hate' & 'Puppet Syndrome Society', respectively) as well as God In A Cone conversed with Heavy & Unhealthy for two long hours and the first band delivered a Live Session. We only managed to save the Session, due to various technical fails. Never mind that, here's Blame Canada's live session!

S06E12

Season 06 - Episode 12 of the web radio show Heavy & Unhealthy (07.12.2016)

 It' s great to have a band in the studio. It's even better if that band is not in immediate proximity and you rarely get the chance to catch them live, let alone talk to them in person. Monk, the horror doomsters from Piskopio of Syros island, found their way to the studio in Piraeus, after a three-day tour in Ioannina, Thessaloniki and Athens, joined by their comrades Korsikov, in order to promote their first full length release 'Black Earth Beneath' (out now by Fuzz Ink Records). Manitari, Woodman & John (drums, bass & guitar, respectively) talked about their ultra-heavy-eerie doom/sludge sound, their history, influences and the pains of the DYI musicianship. To top it all up, they delivered a massive live session which, unfortunately, we managed to delete by accident. Fortunately we salvaged the radio recording. Listen and support Syros' finest!

The Dead Dranks have been around for quite some time. Having just released their self-titled debut, we seized the opportunity to invite them over and make them spill the beans. Sotos, Tony, Polydoros & Akis (Vocals & guitars, bass & drums respectively) were given the Heavy & Unhealthy treatment over at our dirty headquarters. Here are two hours of blabber and a live session by the aforementioned rascals.  Two and a half hours of bad puns and horrible jokes with the four fifths of Blame Kandinsky. Marios, Spyros, Kostas & Chris (two guitarists, a bassist & a drummer respectively) sat on the casting couch of the H&U headquarters to talk about their latest release 'Spotting Elegance In Chaos' and their future plans. As always, a pleasure hanging around those guys and listening to their tunes. Looking forward to a future live session with those badasses!

BUS (aka Bus The Unknown Secretary) is a 4-piece heavy metal band from Athens. They've been around for about 4 years, they self-financed their first 3 EPs and have been playing live non-stop for the past 6 months to promote their Debut LP 'The Unkown Secretary' (out now by Twin Earth Records). Bill, Aris, John & Spyros (vocals & guitar, drums, guitar and bass respectively) hang out with the H&U crew for 3 hours and gave us the royal tour of the bands' history. This here long overdue recording features Athens' finest sludge 'n roll trio. Korsikov closed the fifth season of the show in the best way possible, with an interview and a killer live session. Jorgos, Giannis & Stavros (guitars & vocals, drums and guitars respectively) joined forces with Stavros (lungs @ Sadhus) and delivered 2 hours of pure audio entertainment. All you need to know about the freshly released s/t debut album from Korsikov (out now by Fuzz Ink. Records), some facts regarding the story behind the band and finally, 20 minutes of live performance can be found in this here upload. If you find yourself in Athens on October 14th, you'll have the opportunity to catch them live.

Still Falling are no strangers to the Heavy & Unhealthy Radio Show. It' s been a while since they last came by for an interview and to tell the truth I've been looking forward to the occasion. Spiros, Nikos & Manos (Guitars & Bass) joined yours truly for about 2 hours, throughout which we talked about their latest release Free Of Avidya, their successful quest on finding the right drummer for the job, their future plans and some philosophical-metaphysical stuff as well. The future looks promising!

They are heavy, they are fast, they are Convixion. This show features all three Convixion members, namely Nikos, Michalis & Manos (guitars & vocals, bass & vocals and drums, respectively). We brought the beers, they supplied the tunes. Here's two hours of pure speed metal, featuring Convixions' latest release 'Days Of Rage, Nights Of Wrath' (out now by Eat Metal Records), some mindless blabbering concerning the bands' doings as well as the Greek metal scene and last, but definitely not least, a live session delivered by the aforementioned scum.

Chainsaw, a name that fits this band shoes 100%.
Necropervert & Witchkiller (aka George & Kostas) joined forces and sat on the casting couch for two hours, throughout which they talked about their bands' past and present. A truly underground band, with no delusions as to who they are or what they like, Chainsaw talked us through their last release 'Hill Of Crosses' while laying out some rough outlines as to their future plans.
Make no mistake, this band kicks ass and just doesn't give a flying fuck as to what you think of them.

Apart from the fact that we had the honor of offering our humble hospitality to Omega Monolith (a titan of a two-man-band) & that we were so fucking lucky to host an interview just before the release of their third album Fungus, we actually managed to pull off a live session featuring the aforementioned titan. Alex & Takis (drums and guitar respectively) were kind enough to talk us through their latest piece of soundscaping art and went the extra mile to grace us with 26 minutes of steaming live performance. If you ever miss an opportunity to catch the magnificent duo Omega Monolith live, consider yourself an idiot.

That was the second time we managed to host a radio show featuring Smoke The Fuzz Gigs. It was also the second time that Smoke The Fuzz Gigs chose to appear on radio. Well, you get where we' re going with this...
Elina, mastermind extraordinaire and sole culprit for whatever 's cooking inside StF's cauldron, spent 2 hours with the H&U crew, sharing thoughts and stories behind many live StF productions, featuring bands such as Yob, Dopethrone, Stoned Jesus and so on. She was also kind enough to let us into some future plans (sorry, no spoilers, listen to the show). It's always great to interview a person who literally takes it personally when it comes to planning, hosting & executing (flawlessly) a live production. Here's one band that's doing it right: Tardive Dyskinesia, the undisputed pioneers of Greece's progressive metal scene joined H&U in the meat market studio for 2 hours. Manthos & Steve (vocals, guitars & guitars respectively) sat on the casting couch and spent some quality time with the H&U crew. Seizing the opportunity that was the mini-tour for the 10 years of their debut album Distorting Point Of View (specially remastered just for the occasion), the guys talked on air about their future plans, the bands' history and their upcoming release, due sometime around September. This here is the last show of the 3rd season, and what better way to wrap it up, other than having good company to share the alcohol and the tunes. Hector and Chris (guitar and bass, respectively) represented their band, namely For A Dozen Matters at the Heavy & Unhealthy studio. We spent two hours talking about music, life and their latest release The Hell That Follows which is up for grabs at their bandcamp page. Death metal meets Rock 'n Roll meets booze. Fun times indeed!

Last week's show found me in the company of Makis & Kostas (keyboard & guitar respectively) of the upcoming Greek band Mother Of Millions. At it for quite some time now, this here band experiment on the edge of progressive metal & rock and have released their debut album entitled Human since February. Melodic & groovy, Human one could say is a concept album that has already caught the ear of Turkey Vulture Records and I personally hope we see and hear more of this here band, especially on a live-show basis (ya hear me Pandora's Box Booking?). Anyhow, here's the two hour interview they gave over at Heavy & Unhealthy, merely missing the last five minutes...
